It is the perfect time of year to enjoy the outdoors and autumn harvest activities in Kamloops and the Okanagan.

There are numerous options for families to get out and enjoy farm animals, the fall harvest and entertainment all weekend long.

In Keremeos the Grist Mill Fall Fair has expanded from one to two days this year due to its growing popularity. The grist mill is the last remaining flour mill in the west with its original machinery intact. The property has garden with flower and vegetable varietals growing that represent over a century of Similkameen agricultural history, and a heritage apple display in a building that was built in the 1900s.

Zucchini races are back, and visitors can expect to see goats and clowns on the grounds along with lots of good food, games and entertainment.

Located at 2691 Upper Bench Rd. in Keremeos, the Grist Mill Fall Fair runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 23 and 24. Go here for an events list and to purchase tickets.

In Oliver, the one day Festival of the Grape is jam packed with activities including wine tastings, artisan markets and an art show just to name a few. There will be live music and food trucks to enjoy.

Perhaps the most interesting thing to see will be the Grape Stomp competition hosted by Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country where teams compete to crush as many grapes as they can with their feet, all the while wearing creative costumes.

“We look forward to this outrageous activity every year,” said executive director of Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country Jennifer Busmann in a recent media release. “Not only is it a ton of fun but also a great opportunity to welcome guests to our region during harvest and open their eyes to winemaking practices of the past and present.”
