VERNON - A stolen dirt bike may have been identified and brought to the attention of police thanks to Facebook.

RCMP received a report of the theft of a $4200 2007 Yamaha dirt bike Aug. 6. It was taken from a locked shed in teh Springfield Road area of Coldstream.

The owner of the bike believed the bike was shown on a Facebook page of a Vernon area person and told police, who went to the person's home to speak with them.

"The bike was located," RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk said in a press release. "It had been painted to attempt to hid the identity of it."

The investigation continues to determine if charges will be laid.
