Vernon Search and Rescue had to help two exhausted and cold snowmobilers after they endured an 11-km walk through deep snow on Saturday.
Search Manager Leigh Pearson says RCMP called the volunteer service for help finding two people in their 60s who called for help after getting stranded in the Beauleau Lake area on the westside of Okanagan Lake.
The couple were headed to their cabin and drove to the end of Beauleau Lake Road, then took the snowmobile to the cabin.
But when they tried to return, the starter rope on the machine broke.
They tried to return to the truck on foot, but called for help. Once found, Vernon Search and Rescue took them to their base camp to warm up before heading home in their truck.
