RCMP and emergency response crews attended an accident in Peachland today, April 1, to rescue a driver out of a car that drove off the road into Okanagan Lake.

The vehicle went off the road and into the water just off Highway 97 near Renfrew Road. As emergency crews rushed to the scene, motorists stopped to help the occupant(s) and direct traffic.

The water at that point along the highway is shallow. Traffic in the area was reported to be backed up as crews worked to free the man.
