The headaches for commuters and commercial drivers on Highway 97 near Summerland will continue twice a week for the rest of December and into the new year.

Crews will be blasting twice a week at the site of a major rockslide that happened back in August.

Closures will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. between Callan Road and Okanagan Lake Provincial Park, according to a Ministry of Transportation media release issued today, Dec. 8.

The days of the closures will vary based on construction requirements.

The ministry continues to blast away the rock wall in its effort to secure the highway and prevent future rockslides.

No work is planned on the highway between Dec. 21 and Dec. 27, but there will be some construction work on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

The ministry promises a 24-hour heads up ahead of the planned closures and suggests using DriveBC to get the most up-to-date information.
