KELOWNA – The second annual pop-up picnic known as Diner en Blanc is back in the Okanagan and bigger than ever.
Diner en Blanc is a worldwide event where guests dressed all in white gather to be whisked off to a secret location where they dine, drink and socialize.
Event organizer Alison Love says 850 people have signed up for the sold out, 19+ event, 150 more than last year.
“It’s a significantly larger group this year,” she says. “I think people are looking for something different to do and this captures their imagination in that there is a secret involved.”
Diners will board buses staged at six different bus locations throughout the valley Thursday evening and be taken to the secret location revealed only moments before it begins.
Last year, 600 people took part in Diner en Blanc at City Park.
“Everyone looked so beautiful dressed up in white,” Love says. “And I couldn’t believe how beautiful the park looked.”
The event will also feature live music, a DJ and pre-made picnic baskets for those who booked ahead.
