Deadline for hotel proposal on South Okanagan Events Centre property extended

The city of Penticton has extended the deadline for proposals to build a hotel on the South Okanagan Events Centre property.

PENTICTON  - The City of Penticton’s search for a developer to build a first class hotel on the South Okanagan Events Centre property has been so successful it’s been extended for another two weeks.

The deadline for the city’s Expression of Interest was extended to June 29 following a request from a potential proponent, communications officer Simone Blais says in an email.

“The request was granted to ensure the city can obtain the best expressions of interest possible,” she says.

Penticton mayor Andrew Jakubeit says there had been strong interest from hotel chains, adding by extending the deadline by two weeks he believes the City will have stronger submissions.

“We’re looking forward to seeing what properties want to operate here and what their plans are to grow the tourism pie, create a unique destination and bring value to the community will be,” Jakubeit says.
