LAKE COUNTRY – B.C. Wildfire Management hit a small blaze in Lake Country yesterday afternoon and overnight hard.
Fire information officer Kelsey Winter says the fire near Posthill Lake Road in Winfield is 100 per cent contained as of this morning, June 28.
She says the wildfire was called in at about 2 p.m. on Saturday. It grew to about one hectare in size before the 21 firefighters, air tankers and skimmer aircraft had it under control. There is a hand guard around the entire perimetre of the fire.
Winter says the fire was burning in timber and no homes or other buildings were threatened.
Wildfire Management crews won’t be on scene today, but will be back tomorrow as the fire is in the patrol stage.
Wildfire crews also fought a fire above Peachland near Zipzone Peachland on Brenda Mines Road Saturday and have 100 per cent containment on that blaze.
The location of the wildfire crews are battling in Lake Country is shown on this Google Earth map.
