KAMLOOPS – One person was killed in a rollover on Highway 1 in the Cherry Creek area west of Kamloops early this morning.
RCMP say the pickup truck rolled at about 2:45 a.m., May 23, near Beaton Road.
“Passing motorists discovered a pickup truck resting on its roof in the centre of the highway,” Sgt. Michael Buxton-Carr says in a media release. “An adult male, the lone occupant of the vehicle, perished in this collision.”
B.C. Ambulance dispatched two ambulances to the crash scene west of the junction with Highway 5, according to David Weir with the Ambulance Service.
Weir says the advance life support ambulance was recalled before it made it to the crash and no patients were transported from the scene.
The highway was closed in both directions for over six hours for the investigation and the removal of the wreckage.
The route reopened to single lane alternating traffic at about 9:30 a.m.
RCMP aren’t releasing the name of the man killed in the crash as they work to contact his family.
The RCMP are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Tk’Emlups RCMP detachment at 250-314-1800.
