A former deputy commander charged with sexually exploiting two youths—one at an army cadet camp in Vernon—was banished from the Canadian forces and sentenced to 12 months in jail by a court martial judge yesterday.
2nd Lt. Daniel Moriarity, 26, was convicted of two charges of sexual exploitation, one charge of sexual interference and one charge of sexual assault by a military court last October.
The victim at the Vernon army cadet camp was a 16-year-old girl. The other victim was a 15-year-old boy at the Lt.-Gen. Ashton Armoury in Victoria, according to a Canadian Press article.
