CLEARWATER, B.C. - Homicide investigators are probing the death of a woman in Clearwater, B.C.
RCMP say the victim was found Monday morning in a home in that rural community, north of Kamloops.
Discovery of the body prompted a seven hour standoff outside another Clearwater home, with police now confirming a man was taken into custody late Monday afternoon.
Witnesses, including Clearwater Mayor John Harwood, say three young children were removed from the house unharmed, but a terse statement from police does not mention the youngsters.
Harwood says counsellors will be at the elementary school in Clearwater to help students deal with the incident.
No names have been officially released and Mounties say the suspect remains in custody but charges have not been laid.
