City issues caution to Kettle Valley Rail Trail users

Kettle Valley Rail Trail users are being cautioned by the City of Penticton to use care when accessing the trail through a short section just east of Carder Road after issues with a retaining wall were discovered.

PENTICTON - A problem with a retaining wall is affecting use of the Kettle Valley Rail Trail just as the warmer weather encourages residents to get outdoors.

The City of Penticton is asking trail users to exercise caution when using the trail near Carder Road and the Randolph Draw trestle bridge.

Engineers have discovered a retaining wall along the trail showing signs of failure between the Randolph Draw and just east of where the trail crosses Carder Road, according to a media release.

The city has placed barricades to route the public away from the affected area and provide safe direction.

Anyone with questions is asked to contact City Engineering at 250-490-2521.
