PENTICTON - A 40-year-old welder learned his lesson for possessing child pornography, according to Provincial Court Judge Gale Sinclair, and will spend 90 days in jail to be served only on weekends.
Penticton resident Jason David Anderson pled guilty on Tuesday to possession of child porn. The other three charges of accessing child porn, importing or distributing it and a breach of undertaking were stayed. He will serve his sentence from Friday to Sunday every week for the next 20 weeks at the Penticton RCMP detachment.
The crimes took place online but court records show Calgary was the location for the offences.
Sinclair offered Anderson a chance to speak but the welder declined. He stood quietly throughout the short proceedings in a blue T-shirt.
"Lesson learned," Sinclair said.
After his 90-day intermittent sentence, Anderson will be on two-years probation. He's also been ordered to provide a DNA sample and will be on the national sex offender registry for the next 10 years. He's also been ordered to avoid computers and technology that can access the Internet unless its for work purposes.
