PENTICTON - The Vancouver Canucks will be hosting the 2014 Young Stars Classic beginning Sept. 12, 2014 in Penticton.

Canucks players won’t be the only NHL stars at the round-robin tournament — prospects from the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and Winnipeg Jets will be there too.

“We are excited to host the Young Stars Classic, now in its fourth year, in beautiful Penticton, B.C.,” said Trevor Linden, President, Canucks Sports & Entertainment. “This is an excellent tournament to develop and assess our prospects in competitive game situations. We have amazing fans in the Okanagan and look forward to sharing an NHL experience with them while celebrating the rich hockey history of Penticton.”

This year the festivities will include a Canucks Town Hall Breakfast as well as Minor Hockey Day, which will include a Party on the Plaza event with games, food, music and entertainment as well as skills and development camps for B.C. minor hockey players.

“It is amazing the amount of energy and excitement having four NHL teams coming into our community brings to fans that might otherwise never be able to see an NHL caliber hockey game. The hockey is very skilled, fast, hard hitting and intense as these Young Stars battle to showcase themselves,” said Event Chair and Coun. Andrew Jakubeit.

Tournament ticket packages will be available for purchase beginning July 11, online, by phone, or at the Valley First Box Office at the South Okanagan Events Centre or the Penticton & Wine Country Visitor Centre. VIP packages and special offers are available for a limited time.
