SAVONA - The body of a man whose vehicle was abandoned in Savona has been found in Kamloops Lake.
On July 31, Kamloops Rural RCMP began investigating reports of a vehicle that appeared to be abandoned near the dump road in Savona.
RCMP say the vehicle was registered to a man from the Lower Mainland, but he wasn't found. Mounties teamed up with Kamloops Search and Rescue to scour the area on foot, with ATVs and a police dog.
The Ministry of Environment boat patrolled Kamloops Lake but the man wasn't found, according to a RCMP media release.
On Aug. 6 a body was spotted in Kamloops Lake, police say.
Officers used the Kamloops RCMP boat to recover the body, which has been indentified as the owner of the vehicle parked near Savona. Foul play is not suspected.
The investigation has been handed over to the B.C. Coroners Service.
