Body found, recovered from Okanagan Lake near Vernon

VERNON - Police and the B.C. Coroners Service are investigating after a body was discovered in Okanagan Lake near Vernon this week.

The body was spotted Tuesday evening just south of the Outback Resort on Eastside Road around 6:30 by a boater, but police were not able to recover the body until the following morning, May 9.

The BC RCMP Underwater Recovery Team was called in to help retrieve the body from its "precarious location."

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP spokesperson Const. Kelly Brett says the death does not appear to be suspicious and the identity has not yet been confirmed.
