Search continues for missing boater

Penticton Search and Rescue, Vernon Search and Rescue and Penticton RCMP are searching Okanagan Lake for signs of an Abbotsford man, 25, who fell from a boat Wednesday evening.

PENTICTON - The search for a missing man in Okanagan Lake is now a recovery mission rather than a rescue.

An Abbotsford man, 25, went missing three days ago and Penticton Search and Rescue official Dale Jorgensen says there's always hope the man will be found alive but is highly unlikely at this point. Vernon Search and Rescue arrived earlier and are using sonar in their search. Jorgensen says there are three boats on the water as of this afternoon.

The man went missing on Wednesday evening when he fell from the bow of a boat. He was onboard with six others. They had been out wakeboarding for several hours and the craft was heading back to Penticton Marina. He had been seated, kneeling at the bow when he fell off. Jorgensen says he spoke to the others after the event and was told they stopped the boat immediately after the man went overboard. He was not wearing a life jacket and he did not resurface.
