PENTICTON - Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for the South Okanagan including Penticton.

Winds that may cause damage are expected or already occurring, according to the warning statement.

Southerly winds of 60 kilometres per hour gusting to 90 km/h in the South Okanagan are expected to last until this afternoon.

These winds can damage tents, awnings and soft shelters, the warning says. Loose objects may be tossed around by the wind and cause damage or injuries.

People are advised to stay away from wooded areas because of falling trees or branches.
