Assault suspect sought in Kelowna

KELOWNA - A man who hit another over the head several times before taking money from the victim’s wallet is wanted by police for assault.

Around 11:45 a.m. last Wednesday, April 13, a man was approached by an unknown man in the Chapman Parkade on Lawrence Avenue, according to an RCMP release. The suspect then struck the victim in the head several times, knocking him to the ground, and then took money from the victim’s wallet before departing on foot.

The suspect is described as Caucasian with noticeable facial acne and wearing a black hoodie and jeans at the time of the incident.

The victim sought medical treatment before reporting the incident to police and RCMP Const. Jesse O’Donaghey says that delay in reporting can make a difference in recovering stolen property or whether the suspect victimizes other people.

"The RCMP would like to encourage the public to report any incidents such as these immediately to police,” O’Donaghey says in the release. "This increases our chances of locating, identifying, and arresting the suspect and in some cases recovering any stolen property. It also greatly reduces the risk of the suspect further victimizing other members of the general public.”

Anyone with information about this incident to contact Const. James Van Camp at 250-762-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net or by texting your tip to CRIMES (274637) ktown.
