Arson suspected in tent trailer fire

VERNON – The RCMP are investigating a suspicious tent trailer fire.

Firefighters were called at about 1 a.m. to the blaze at in the intersection of 20 Street and 43 Avenue in Vernon.

“When we arrived on the scene, flames were visible around the entire perimeter of the lid of the trailer,” Capt. Brent Bond said.

The owner of the burning tent trailer, which had been parked in the yard, managed to pull it into the street.

It had been used to store and transport grass clippings and prunings.

The fire was quickly put out and no one was hurt.

The cause of the fire is suspicious, so the RCMP have started an arson investigation.
