PENTICTON - The Summerland area is about to get some nationwide publicity thanks to a popular national TV show that just finished taping in the area.
The Amazing Race Canada recently wrapped up a shoot in the South Okanagan with a segment that is expected to air sometime in July.
The Summerland Waterfront Resort was the focus of the segment, which will feature contestants performing a 'task' through an obstacle course that includes wake boarding.
Sources say the first of the crew arrived in Summerland on May 17 and the last of the crew left this morning, May 26. Some rain fell on the contestants while they were in town, but there was some good weather as well.
The Amazing Race Canada is a Canadian version of a reality game show based the American TV series The Amazing Race. Season three premieres July 8 on CTV.
Last year The Amazing Race winners were Pete Schmalz and Mickey Henry. Schmalz lived in Kamloops for several years while in the tourism program at Thompson Rivers University. The two split $250,000 in prize money along with a year of free flights with Air Canada, a Chevrolet truck and free gas for life from Petro-Canada.
The first season of The Amazing Race Canada taped in the Kelowna area, and featured teams diving to find an underwater statue of the Ogopogo.
