An allegedly impaired driver rolled his vehicle and took out several pieces of infrastructure near Oliver last week.
Oliver RCMP responded to a call of a single-vehicle rollover on Nov. 26 at around 11:04 p.m.
A 27-year-old man from Port McNeil was found to have rolled his Dodge pickup truck while travelling southbound on Highway 97 just north of Oliver.
The vehicle went through a fence, uprooted a tree and took our a telephone line before coming to a rest on its side.
The incident closed the highway for around 45 minutes.
Officers at the scene detected the odour of alcohol and performed a roadside screening test which confirmed the driver was impaired.
The driver and lone occupant of the truck received an immediate driving prohibition and was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
South Okanagan Similkameen Regional Detachment media officer Sgt. Jason Bayda said in a press release issued today, Nov. 30, the man’s insurance will likely be void due to his driving impaired.
The pickup was destroyed in the incident.
