VERNON - Charges are piling up for a Vernon man accused to setting fires in the community.

William Murray Phelps Munton, 55, already faces charges in connection with four arsons allegedly committed in the summer of 2014.

According to court records, he has also been charged with making or publishing child pornography.

One of the counts of making or publishing child pornography is in relation to an August 2011 offence, while two other charges, including making or publishing child pornography and possession of child pornography are from alleged offences in June and August of 2015.

Police arrested Munton June 1 following an extensive investigation into a series of unsolved arson cases from 2014. The child pornography charges were sworn June 10.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.

The Salmon Arm Observer and Eagle Valley News reported last week Munton was a former school teacher in Salmon Arm.
