UPDATE 11:23 p.m. June 4

KAMLOOPS — Police are asking the public to look out for a Kamloops with a violent history wanted now after a fight turned to gunfire, hitting an innocent woman in a downstairs apartment.

Sgt. Grant Learned said the 25-year-old woman was with her husband and five-year-old child in their basement suite on Brunner Ave when a gun went off upstairs around 6:20 p.m. She was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police questioned a 34-year-old man and 19-year-old woman in the upstairs suite. He was fighting with another man who left the scene and is believed responsible for the shooting.

"The details surrounding the argument remain unclear but the investigation to date suggests that both men were known to each other," Learned said. "The suspect believed to be associated to the firearm is well known to police and has a history of violence, property crime and drug related offences."

Uniformed officers guarded the scene Tuesday night and investigators from the Major Crime Unit were on scene. Forensic Identification Specialists have also been notified. Uniformed and plainclothes investigators are on alert for the suspect and surrounding detachments have been notified, Learned said.

The man is described as being a stocky 34-year-old white male who is six feet tall, weighs 181 pounds and has green eyes, brown hair and a prominent tattoo of the word "Quinn" on the right side of his neck. Anyone with information about this suspect is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP or Crimestoppers.
