Salmon Arm man killed while crossing Hwy identified

UPDATE: March 1, 2013 - 1:10 p.m.

A man who was killed crossing Highway 1, Feb. 26 evening near Salmon Arm has been identified.

He was Jason Marcus Greaves, 41, of Salmon Arm.

The B.C. Coroners Service confirmed his identity, stating Greaves was making the crossing around 11 p.m. when he collided with a minivan that was heading west. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

The investigation into Greaves death is ongoing.

Feb. 28, 2013 - 9:42 a.m.

A Salmon Arm man was killed when crossing Highway 1 near Salmon Arm late Tuesday evening.

Late Tuesday night, police were called to the accident scene were a vehicle hit a man on the West bound lane of the Trans Canada Highway at 36th Street North East near Salmon Arm.

Police say preliminary investigation showed a pedestrian ran across the West bound lane of Highway one and into the front drivers side of a West bound mini van.
A 41-year-old male man was transported from the scene to the Salmon Arm Hospital where he died. Neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the cause of this incident by the driver. Intoxication of the pedestrian is a contributing factor.

The RCMP Trans Canada East Traffic Services and the BC Coroners Services are continuing their investigations into this fatal collision.
