SCAT DEER! How one resident really feels...

This small deer statue appears to be made out of animal droppings and was left on city hall steps about two weeks ago Mayor Garry Litke said.

MADE A STATUE OUT OF WHAT?

PENTICTON - A gift received by Penticton City Hall late last month appears designed to raise a stink about the city's urban deer problem.

Call it interpretive art.

A small deer statue was dropped with a simple note: A Gift For City Hall From Anon. And it appears to be made of deer droppings.

The city has had its foot in the urban mule deer issue for quite some time now. The deer are disturbing some residents—creating dangers for drivers, bringing coyotes and pests into town and raiding gardens. They also left quite a mess for councillors, who have so far stepped carefully around the issue.

The city is expected to reveal its urban mule deer action plan tonight with several options for council to nose through, including capture and relocation and other alternatives. The city has made light of the issue before but it appears from now on, this could get dirty.
