The B.C. Tree Fruits building and lot have been sold to a family from Edmonton hoping to construct a large public market, brewery and two office buildings.

KELOWNA - A major new development is planned for the three-hectare B.C. Tree Fruits lot in downtown Kelowna.
The Urban Square project hopes to include a year-round farmer market, a brewery and two new office buildings and will occupy the entire length of Clement between Ethel and Richter.
Kelowna developer Gary Tebbutt of Compass Real Estate Development Ltd. says that the lot, which includes a 3,000 square metre building, was purchased from B.C. Tree Fruits for an undisclosed price.
The project still requires approval from the City, however construction of the more than 5000 square metre Starkhund Brewery is expected to begin in April and finish by December, 2014.
Construction of the two office buildings, expected to be four or five stories, would be the final phase of the project and offer more than 9000 square metres of retail and office space.
