KAMLOOPS - Crime scene photos entered as exhibits in the double murder trial of Roy Fraser were released by the court late last week and may help provide some context as the trial proceeds.
A media application for exhibits from Kamloops This Week was accepted by B.C. Supreme Court Justice Ian Josephson, who made the exhibits available to the public through the media.
Kenneth Yaretz Jr., 24, and Damien Marks, 31, were found shot to death at Knouff Lake in 2009. Roy Fraser, 56, is charged with first degree murder of Marks and second degree murder of Yaretz Jr.
Fraser pleaded not guilty and elected trial by jury, underway in B.C. Supreme Court in Kamloops. The jury has heard Fraser was angry with Yaretz Jr., who lived with him for a short time, because he had not returned a truck he'd borrowed from him.
Yaretz Jr. was an associate of the Independent Soldiers gang. The jury has heard he owed money to a Kelowna gang — the Kingpin Crew, and that Fraser's truck was sold to a relative of a high-up associate of the gang.
The jury has also heard Fraser reported his truck stolen to police, and he told police during the investigation he knew nothing of the whereabouts of the two missing men.
Photo evidence has been submitted by the Crown. Media have obtained some of the photos, posted below. The trial is expected to last into December.
