The body of a man presumed drowned in Shuswap Lake has been discovered.

Salmon Arm RCMP and Search and Rescue gave up the search May 6, but just over a week later on May 13, 59-year-old John Poole, of Calgary, was found dead in the lake.

Poole travelled without his family to their cabin in Blind Bay and was alone on the boat when the incident leading to his death occurred.

The incident occurred April 30, 2013. The boat was discovered May 1 by a local resident who said the motor was still in gear and the fishing lines engaged.

Poole's family has been notified of his death.

The file on Poole's death has not been closed and the B.C. Coroners Service continue to investigate it, though it has not been deemed suspicious.
