Kamloops RCMP are seeking public help in recounting the events that has left a 46-year-old man in critical condition for more than three weeks.
"This individual is still in serious condition in hospital," said Kamloops RCMP Const. Bernie Ward.
The Mackenzie man was struck in the head with a skateboard outside the Tranquille Road 7-Eleven convenience store on March 24 after an altercation with a group of youngsters.
Police have obtained statements from multiple witnesses trying to piece together the events.
"We've made progress," Ward said.
They are saying a group of teenage skateboarders were jaywalking across Tranquille Road as a Ford Expedition drove by, honking at the group. Someone in the vehicle believed one of the youth struck the vehicle with an object as it passed, which resulted in the vehicle pulling over into the 7-Eleven parking lot where the group was headed.
The situation escalated from pushing and a verbal exchange to a 15-year-old male striking the man in the head with a skateboard, leaving him unconscious on the ground.
RCMP responded to the scene and arrested the youth before releasing him to his guardian.
RCMP continue to investigate the case as an aggravated assault with a a weapon, but no charges have been laid as of yet.
"We need more people to come forward," Ward said.
The man has remained in critical condition and police are urging anyone with information to contact the local detachment at 250-828-3000.
