KELOWNA - The man arrested Aug. 2, 2012 for allegedly running an elaborate vehicle ‘chop shop’ with ties to organized crime was arrested again Nov. 2 following a raid at a Peachland residence.

John Newcome, 44, was found on the 4200 block of Beach Ave. in possession of a number of vehicles reported stolen, including an antique 1949 Mercury pickup truck taken from a trailer in Rutland in the spring of 2012.

Also found were three motorcycles with suspicious vehicle identification numbers, number punches that can be used to modify VIN’s, 44 grams of cocaine, 75 grams of psilocybin (mushrooms) and drug paraphernalia.

The RCMP believes the business had connections to the Hells Angels in B.C. and Alberta, as well as gangs in Kelowna.

Newcome is scheduled to face charges of possession and trafficking in stolen property as well as breach of recognizance in Kelowna court Monday, Nov. 4.
