Crown prosecutor seeks indefinite jail time for recurring sex offender

KAMLOOPS, B.C. - A Crown prosecutor is asking for an indefinite jail term along with dangerous offender status for a man with a long history of sexual offences.

Jack Froese has been convicted on sex charges in three provinces and pleaded guilty last year to kidnapping and sexual assault in Kamloops, B.C.

Probation officer Bernice Hannett told his dangerous offender hearing in Kamloops that although Froese was labelled a high risk, untreated sex offender when he moved to Kamloops in May 2011, he had a good attitude and was focused.

Six months later, Froese kidnapped a woman from a retail outlet and sexually assaulted her.

Crown prosecutor Joel Gold says the court will view a two-hour video of the victim describing the attack in vivid detail to investigators two years ago.

Froese has prior convictions in Alberta and Saskatchewan, and a victim from Saskatoon is also expected to give evidence later this week. (CHNL)
