The pilot and passenger walked away from a plane crash Saturday afternoon at the Kamloops Airport.

UPDATE: 5:12 p.m., Sept. 21, 2013

It was likely a gust of wind that crashed a small plane at the Kamloops Airport Saturday afternoon.

Both the pilot and the passenger walked away from the wreckage of the crash at about 4:08 p.m. They were uninjured.

The single engine plane was pushed off the runway into the grassy infield area at the airport.

“There was no fire,” according to Kamloops Fire acting assistant chief Jeff Bell. “There is significant damage to the plane though.”

The private plane was flying from Scottsdale, Arizona to Prince George. They landed in Kamloops to go through customs.

Both Kamloops Fire Rescue and the airport fire department responded, along with B.C. Ambulance and the RCMP.

The Transportation Safety Board will be investigating.
