People flocked to this Sahali water park Thursday afternoon as temperatures soared in to the 30s.

For the second time this week temperature records have been broken in Kamloops, and there is a good chance we will hit the record mark again today.
By 4 p.m. on Thursday the record had already been broken with a recorded temperature of 31.2 C and reached a high of 32.3 C at the hottest point in the day. Records showed the former record at 30 C in 1987. On Monday temperatures reached 31.9 C to break the record of 30.3 C set in 1998.
Kamloops is one of eight locations to break records Thursday. Clinton saw the biggest break when an 18-year-old record fell as temperatures reached 26.9 C – more than seven degrees above the former record of 19.7 C.
Today we are forecast to reach 33 C – 12 degrees above normal highs – with a UV index of six. The current record for May 10 is 28.9 C, set in 1969.
UV index of six is considered high and Environment Canada recommends protecting yourself from the sun and reducing time in the sun between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., wear sunscreen, hat and sunglasses, cover up and seek shade.
The above-normal temperatures will continue through the weekend, with a high of 30 C forecast for Saturday and 25 C for Sunday. Monday through Thursday are expected to be closer to normal temperatures, varying between 20 and 22 C.
The water park at McGowan Park was opened Wednesday as temperatures continued to climb and will remain open through Sunday. The water park will then be open when the weather warrants, though the city will open all water parks on June 1.
