B.C. police lay charge in 300 km/h hair-raising motorcycle ride put on YouTube

SAANICH, - Police have charged a man they believe responsible for a hair-raising motorcycle ride along a Vancouver Island highway that reached speeds of 300 kilometres an hour.

The video evidence of the rocket ride showing the driver swerving in and out of traffic was uploaded to YouTube and has been viewed more than 750,000 times since it was posted back in April.

Charges have been sworn against 25-year-old Randy George Scott about three months after Saanich, B.C., police began searching for the person who filmed the ride on the blue Yamaha.

Police have a warrant out for the Victoria man, who officers have failed to locate.

Scott is facing a single count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

The bike itself is owned by an Esquimalt woman who was charged earlier, although Saanich Police Sgt. Dean Jantzen says she was never believed to be the rider in the video.
