Youth stabbed in Kamloops park; RCMP looking for witnesses

FILE PHOTO - A Kamloops youth was injured in an assault with a weapon at Pioneer Park on April 8, 2022.

Kamloops RCMP are looking for witnesses after a youth was assaulted with a weapon in a park Friday night.

Officers were in Pioneer Park when a group came running from the beach and said someone had been stabbed around 9:05 p.m. on Friday, April 8, according to a Kamloops RCMP media release.

“Officers attended an area and located numerous intoxicated youths, and a male with injuries consistent to be being struck by a sharp object,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

A male in a ski mask and blue shirt, along with a Caucasian female with brown hair who was wearing a ghillie suit, were throwing eggs at the crowd.

The victim allegedly confronted the pair and was attacked, before the pair fled westbound.

A male was taken to the hospital by ambulance and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, RCMP said.

Anyone who witnessed or has information about this investigation is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-11424.
