Young girl victim of attempted abduction in West Kelowna

An 11-year-old girl was the victim of an attempted child abduction in West Kelowna earlier this week.

RCMP she was walking along Cougar Road in West Kelowna at about 3:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, when a man in a vehicle pulled up beside her and pointed to his back seat, encouraging her to get in. Instead she ran home.

The car was a blue four-door sedan with rusted rims and squeaky brakes but the make and model aren’t known, according to an RCMP media release. It was last seen at the intersection of Cougar Road and Grizzly Road.

RCMP describe the suspect as a man in his mid-40s with a heavier build, tanned, possibly bald with a white bearded chin and small circular silver glasses.

Anyone with information about this attempted abduction is asked to call the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880. Should you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
