KAMLOOPS - Know a young boy or girl who loves acting and singing? This might be the job for them.
A production of Mary Poppins is on the agenda for Western Canada Theatre this year and young actors and singers are needed to fill the roles of the Banks children.
A 10- to 13-year-old girl is needed to play Jane Banks, the high-spirited daughter who is bright and precocious, as well as willful and snobbish. An eight- to 11-year-old boy is needed to play the cute and cheeky Michael Banks, who is excitable and naughty and tries to be like the father he adores.
Applications are being accepted through May 25 and auditions will take place June 6. In addition to performing a song and short scene from the play, those selected for auditions will need to prepare a song of their choice, though a Disney song by the Sherman Brothers is preferred. Children are specifically asked to not choose a song from Frozen.
Rehearsals will run through November and the shows will be from Nov. 26 through Dec. 9 at Sagebrush Theatre.
Interested young people should submit a photo and resume (or short description of previous theatrical experience) to Heather Cant at heather@wctlive.ca. Contact Heather with any questions at 250-372-3216 ext. 29.
