ICBC customers in Kamloops will need to make an appointment before their visit, starting later this month.

ICBC will be rolling out a pilot project to five offices requiring that all customers make appointments, according to a release.

The purpose of the new protocols is to minimize the number of customers waiting for service in-person and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The new policies take effect Nov. 23 in Kamloops, Burnaby Metrotown, Richmond Lansdowne, Surrey Guildford and Victoria Wharf Street driver licensing offices.

To help customers transition to the changes, each location will have a designated drop-in time for those unable to make an appointment.

Kamloops customers can visit ICBC without an appointment Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Based on the results of the pilot, ICBC may consider making these changes permanent or return to taking walk-ins at all times.

To book an appointment online click here, or call 1-800-950-1498.
