Simply betting on who will win the Super Bowl used to require a bookie or a trip to Las Vegas – but now that it’s legal in British Columbia, the B.C. Lottery Corporation is expecting to double its previous betting record.
The previous record for Super Bowl betting in B.C. was set last year and reached around $1.02 million. Around $2 million in wagers is expected this year, according to a B.C. Lottery Corporation press release.
Thanks to another page taken from the Vegas playbook a few years ago, the lotto corporation also allows B.C. residents to bet on how the halftime show unfolds.
The public can place wagers on who they think will perform first between Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Dr. Dre and Kendrick Lamar.
Bets can be made on other things like which song Eminem will perform first, what colour his hair will be, the colour of Snoop Dogg's shoes and whether or not all five artists will perform at the same time.

British Columbians can bet on the length of the national anthem, what the colour of Gatorade will be dunked over the winning coach and which quarterback will be mentioned first by the broadcast crew.
This year’s Super Bowl will see the Los Angeles Rams take on the Cincinnati Bengals at the SoFi Stadium in California on Feb. 13.
The province’s regulated gambling site is PlayNow.com.
Placing a single bet on who will win a sports game was not legal in B.C. until August 2021.
