QALYUBIA, Egypt (AP) — Date grower Hajj Ibrahim harvests dates from his palms in Kafr Sendwah, a village in Qalyubia on Cairo’s outskirts. Professional climbers earn about 50 Egyptian pounds, or $1, per tree, as girls sort their families’ dates.
