Woman in parked car robbed at knifepoint, then bear-sprayed in Kelowna

A woman waiting in in her car in a parking lot in Kelowna was injured after being robbed by a man who threatened her with a knife.

Police received a report of the robbery at 5:15 p.m. yesterday, Feb. 22, according to an RCMP press release.

The woman was parked in her car in the in the 2800-block of Highway 97 when a man allegedly opened the passenger door and threatened her with a knife and demanded her stuff. There was a struggle and the woman was injured.

Then the man allegedly sprayed bear spray into her car before fleeing on foot.

The woman then got help from a nearby business until police and paramedics arrived. She was taken to the hospital to treat non-life-threatening injuries. She has since been released.

Frontline officers hunted for the suspect along with the RCMP Police Dog Service but were unsuccessful.

RCMP describe the suspect as a male with a dark complexion and 5’11” tall. He was wearing a black jacket, black pants and a black medical-style mask.
