Woman in hospital after being assaulted in West Kelowna

A man is in custody after assaulting a woman on a sidewalk in the 2500 block of Main Street in West Kelowna at about 3:20 p.m. yesterday, Dec. 2.

By the time West Kelowna RCMP arrived the man had fled the scene but, after a short foot chase, he was nabbed and arrested for aggravated assault.

The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“Investigators to not believe this was a random incident and the parties were known to one another,” reads an RCMP news release.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or by leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net.
