VERNON – A Vernon woman was struck by a vehicle in the city yesterday.

RCMP say a 24-year-old Vernon woman was hit by a car shortly after 5 p.m. yesterday, Jan. 18, at Highway 6 and Middleton Way.

The woman was taken to Vernon Jubilee hospital and treated for minor injuries, according to an RCMP media release.

"Police are still investigating the collision and continue to interview the persons involved," Const. Kelly Brett says in the release. "The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators."

Brett says while the cause of the collision "is still yet to be determined" it's a good reminder to drivers to slow down and pay extra attention when roads are icy.
