Woman dragged by car during theft in Penticton

Penticton RCMP were called to Kinney Avenue in Penticton yesterday afternoon, March 9, 2020, on reports of a woman being dragged by a vehicle.

Penticton RCMP are seeking two men after a woman was dragged by a car yesterday afternoon.

Police received multiple calls of a woman screaming while apparently fighting with a man on Kinney Avenue around 1:40 p.m. yesterday, March 9.

The woman had interrupted two men in the midst of stealing a vehicle plate and when the woman attempted to video them with her cell phone, one of the men grabbed her phone.

The victim fought back to retain her phone and refused to let go even after the man jumped into the passenger side of a vehicle, dragging her nearly two blocks before being pushed out.

She suffered non-life threatening injuries in the incident.

RCMP spokesperson Sgt. James Bayda said in a press release issued this afternoon, police are seeking two men, both white.

One man is described as 6 feet tall and slim, wearing all black and a hat and hoodie style jacket.

The second suspect is slim with short hair dyed dirty blonde, wearing a black hoodie, black hat, shoes and sunglasses.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
