One person died and another was injured following a plane crash near Stave Lake yesterday.
On Monday, July 27, the Mission RCMP responded to a report of a small plane crash on an abandoned air strip near Stave Lake, which is located north of Mission, according to a RCMP news release.
Police officers were transported to the area with the help of the Mission Search and Rescue as the road was inaccessible.
When the RCMP officers arrived on scene, they found a 21-year-old woman had been injured and a 66-year-old woman had died, said Sgt. Chris Robinson of the Mission RCMP, in the media release.
The survivor was transported to the hospital with "undetermined" injuries, according to the news release. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Transportation Safety Board and Mission RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service is also involved to determine the cause of death.
No further information will be released by the RCMP or B.C. Coroners Service at this time.
