WolfPack beat Heat for second Canada West men's basketball win

Kamloops, BC-  The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack are into the win column for the second time in the Canada West men’s basketball league.  The WolfPack downed the visiting University of British Columbia Okanagan Heat 78-75 on the Warner Rentals court on Friday (Nov 25).

SYNOPSIS

In a battle of a pair of previously 1-5 clubs, the WolfPack were down 38-36 to the Heat but outscored them 21-14 in the final quarter en route to the victory.  Derek Rhodes (3rd year, guard, Antioch, CA, USA) led the way with 25 points. Aldrich Berrios ( 3rd year, guard, Burnaby, BC) had 27 in a losing cause for UBCO.

“Guys played well in the fourth and do a little bit better on the glass. That was the difference. I thought Madhu (McConnell, 1st year, guard, Victoria, BC) did a good job coming in defensively," TRU  head coach Scott Clark says.

The two teams will play again at the Tournament Capital Centre tomorrow (Sat Nov 26). Tip off is 7 pm. It is the WolfPack’s final home game before the Christmas Holiday.
Next week: TRU will close things out in Prince George against the University of Northern British Columbia Timberwolves (Dec 3-4).  UBCO will visit UBC (Dec 3-4).
