PENTICTON - A 27-year-old Summerland man is facing charges of assault, forcible confinement and criminal harassment after an alleged altercation with his girlfriend.
Police responded to a call at the Penticton Regional Hospital emergency room after a woman took refuge inside, according to a press release.
The altercation happened around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28 on Government Street. During the incident a driver stopped and asked if everything was all right after seeing the man grab the woman. The man let go of her and the vehicle left.
Police are looking to speak to the witness who intervened. They are asked to contact Penticton RCMP Const. Dave Dixon 250-492-4300.
The man has been released on recognizance of bail and may not come within 100 meters of the woman’s home, school or work or be in contact with her.
