The Trans Canada Highway from Shuswap to the Alberta border is under heavy snowfall and winter storm warnings this morning.

Environment Canada says the area could get up to 40 cm of snow by later this morning. A slow moving frontal system is expected to leave 5 to 15 cms of snow in the Shuswap area with Sicamous expected to get the most but should ease later this morning.

Meanwhile a winter storm warning was issued for Highway 1 travellers from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass, which could get up to 40 cms before Wednesday afternoon. The weather office says visibility will be reduced and travel may be difficult.
