KAMLOOPS - The YMCA-YWCA 2015 Dream Home Lottery came to a close yesterday, July 7, and with it gave 305 ticket holders something to smile about.

The big winner was Marge Lane, the owner of a brand new Juniper Ridge home worth $597,500.

“We tried to give her a call and her line was busy,” YMCA-YWCA Manager of philanthropy and communications Darcy Harris says. “Probably from all the people calling to tell her she won."

Harris says Lane received the draw ticket from her son for Mother’s Day.

“She couldn’t believe she won,” Harris says.

Students from the Thompson Rivers University Trades and Technology Program in partnership with the Canadian Home Builders’ Association constructed the home for the draw.

Included in the hundreds of prizes was a 2015 Chevrolet Sonic, a motorcycle, a trip to London, England, and plenty of gift certificates for restaurants, grocery stores and other businesses in Kamloops.

“We called the prize winner for the car yesterday. She was in tears she was so excited,” Harris says, adding the lady who won the motorcycle said the win was fortuitous. “She had just sold her car and was looking to buy a motorcycle."

This was year 19 for the Dream Home draw. Harris says profits from the ticket sales will fund YMCA community programs, including but not limited to, the child and youth programs and camp Deka.

The full list of winners is available online.
